Certificate IV University Access Program

  • Course

    The Certificate IV University Access Program (52835WA) course is a one semester course designed to prepare students for university academic studies. Successful completion will provide a pathway to selected universities, TAFE or the workforce. The course is available for local non-compulsory age students, permanent residents and international students.

    The qualification will give stuents the equivalent of a 70 ATAR which can lead to entry into a selection of courses at Curtin, Edith Cowan and Murdoch universities. The Certificate IV UAP will be offered as a commerce or science stream but will allow access to other degree courses subject to successful completion of entry requirements.

  • Prerequisites

    Age prerequisite:
    Domestic students need to have completed the compulsory years for schooling or apply as a mature age student. Students who are currently enrolled in Year 11 or 12 at a Department of Education high school  must complete their studies in that school. If you are 18 years or older on the 31 January 2018, you will also need to complete the Department of Education - National Police History Check through Canning College. Please read the attached National Police Clearance letter to prospective students from Canning College Principal, Alan Genoni.

    Credit for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL): Canning College recognises prior learning by acknowledging competencies and outcomes achieved (skills, knowledge and attributes) held as a result of formal training and education (both within Australia and overseas), work experience and/or life experience. Students who have successfully completed similar units of study at another institution may be given credit/exemption for a module in the Certificate IV course.

    Local Students: $335 (plus a $300 book hire fee, with a $175 refund at the end of the course).

    Students 18 years or above at the commencement of the course will also be required to pay $46 for a National Police History Check (which will be completed at the College at the time of enrolment).
