Canning College offers international students the
opportunity to enrol in the excellent Western
Australian Universities' Foundation Program (WAUFP).
This program has been designed especially to prepare
international students for tertiary institution
enrolment.
Every student who successfully completes the WAUFP
program is guaranteed a place in one of the four
Western Australian public universities. The
Foundation Program is offered by Canning College on
behalf of Western Australia's four major
universities:
It is also recognised by most universities in other
states of Australia, giving students a wide range of
courses and institutions for further study.
Students are also able to apply for overseas
institutions.

DESIGNED FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
The Foundation Program has been specially designed
to meet the needs of international students. It is
offered in two modes: January Entry and April Entry.
Both courses finish in November. Results and offers
for university are issued in December. The
Foundation course consists of two major components:
English Language and Australian Cultural Studies;
and Academic Subject Studies.
English Language and Australian Cultural Studies
(Compulsory subject)
This subject, commonly referred to as ELACS,
provides skills development programs in listening,
speaking, reading and writing in the English
language and education in Australian social and
cultural topics.
Academic Subject Studies
(Students must choose at least three but no more
than four subjects from this list.)
Accounting; Information Systems; Economics; History;
Calculus; Applicable Mathematics; Discrete
Mathematics; Chemistry; Human Biology; Physics and
Physical Science (January Entry only).
The Foundation Program is designed to give you a
wide range of options and opportunities for tertiary
study. It provides access to a broad selection of
courses and is recognised by many Australian
universities, including members of the Group of 8 -
University of Melbourne, Monash University,
University of Sydney, University of Queensland,
University of NSW, University of Adelaide, The
Australian National University, The University of
Western Australia.
Courses can be packaged together to meet the needs of
individual students.

(Excellent preparation for study)
ASSESSMENT AND UNIVERSITY ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Examinations for international students in the
Foundation Program are held in the last three weeks
of November. To gain admission to university, you
need to:
Achieve a score of at least 50% in English Language
and Australian Cultural Studies, and
Achieve a Combined Percentage Score (CPS) based on
the three best scores in your academic subjects. If
you elect to study four subjects, only the three
highest scoring subjects will be used to calculate
your average.
Meet the prerequisite subject requirements for entry
to the particular course you wish to study at
university.
The final scores for all subjects are based on 50%
continuous College assessment and 50% on the
external examination.
Examination results are normally available within
one month of completing the Foundation Program. At
that time the universities will make formal offers
of places to successful students.
