Principal’s Message

A message from our Principal

“Since 1982, when Canning College first welcomed international students, we have helped launch thousands of careers by providing the crucial pathway to leading universities.

Our programs, which are recognised by tertiary institutions across Australia and overseas, are tailored to suit the specific needs of students who are often unfamiliar with our young and vibrant city and the unique way of life it offers. Experienced staff understand the motivations of international students as well as the challenges they face as they adjust to the pace of their new life and transition towards university entry.

We take great pride in the role we play in assisting these students through a period of growth in their academic and personal development. We’re extremely proud when they achieve their goals of university acceptance.

We have exceptional relationships with Western Australian institutions and provide the flagship WA Universities’ Foundation Program on behalf of the University of Western Australia, Curtin University, Murdoch University and Edith Cowan University.

Our programs have assisted students in achieving entry into many other institutions, including the University of Melbourne, Monash University and the University of Sydney, as well as others in the United Kingdom, United States, Canada and New Zealand.

In 2019, a Western Australian Government initiative to expand international education resulted in Canning College focusing exclusively on opportunities for overseas students. The further refinement in the delivery of our programs ensured a smooth academic transition, while the introduction of extra-curricular activities have enhanced the student experience.

The emergence of the coronavirus in early 2020 brought new challenges that Canning College was able to overcome with the development and successful implementation of online learning programs. This has allowed international students to continue on their journeys to leading universities without the requirement of physically travelling to Perth. Of course, we look forward to welcoming new students onto campus for a holistic international experience as soon as government policies allow for the lifting of travel restrictions.

Whether students are with us online or on campus, our teachers and support staff will continue to work towards achieving excellent academic outcomes and providing rich personal experiences that are never forgotten.”
